The summer has once again struck on us here in Latvia leaving sun, flowers and happiness behind it’s dusty trails. As sunny and very, very exciting seems [Bli:p]’s future – we’re coming towards you in a never before experienced physical intimacy just in 1 week time. Finally it’s the time to step into your living rooms and bedrooms cleaning out spaces of your walls with the best cleaner there is – minimalism.
The new-born trading place Cargoh features many great artists and new designers from all of the world and I’m eagerly hoping to become one of the many lucky ones that have already gone through the “qualification” and, paying only 3% of the income, have already started distributing their production to every country on the map there is. We’ve already made 2 new canvas designs, designed the new sticker line and we’re now working on the tee line. The Canvases will be posted in here, but the thing you’ll most definitely have to do is visit the Cargoh store to see it for your own. I can assure you that every single canvas will be hand-made with the best quality graffiti equipment and will be mailed to you with a unique personal letter attached.
So much for commercial stuff... Now to the graff stuff - there’s one new piece from me this week, but it has already been posted in the Flickr page and I’ve already given a tweet or two about this so you probably already know of this one...
Side street cliché’...
People always want to be better, every single person wants to achieve something - it wants fame, money, it wants to be successful. All of these illusions are very simple, temporary moulds. Every mould has it’s volume, it’s shape and characteristics, so it can be filled, but the human nature is very progressive in it’s own definition – it always wants more no matter how much it gets.
Many think this is the only skill worth having – it’s why the human race still exists. This might be true - it is making people achieve something, intentionally (or unintentionally) leaving something behind them. From art to technical innovations, we seem to need it more and more. But money, gadgets and cool houses cant be eaten. Maybe all we have to do is look back that dirty side street? Maybe then will the human race stop exploiting the un-recoverable resources of the land they live in and finally would people accept who they are? Maybe then will people get that there is always a bigger mould supported just in time to replace the filled one, just as a stencil artist is always supported with a ‘plastic cliché’’ just in time to enlighten the public? Or maybe the side street is way too dark and dirty already, leaving no option of the needed epiphany..?
The ending seems really dark when you read it for the second time, doesn’t it? Any way it is, there are a thing or two for me to do in the business of studies and a few plans to write in the business of business – I’ve got a few phone calls to make to some sticker printing companies and a stencil to cut....
Sincerely Yours,
[Bli:p]
